Creating safe spaces together with The Stonewall Inn and Brooklyn Brewery

Pride month is over, but our commitment continues together with our partner companies Brooklyn Brewery and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI) to create safe spaces for everyone and promote projects like Create Space, a platform providing financing and support for LGBTQIA+ communities and activists around the world.

We decided to follow in the footsteps of Brooklyn Brewery by implementing a number of initiatives in all our pizzerias, on our social channels and our menus, with the goal of becoming Italy’s first official safe space certified by SIGBI!

For more than ten years we have been committed to ensuring respect and care in our work as we want people of any gender, orientation or background to feel safe in our locations.

Our communication will always be gender-neutral, just as our bathroom signs will always be gender-free. The doormat at the entrance of our restaurants has an asterisk on it to welcome customers, and for Valentine’s Day and on other holidays we always use gender-neutral language.

We introduced an anti-violence policy in our pizzerias to build a work environment free of discrimination, and we offer our staff a course in linguistic violence. Every year we commit to giving financial support, voice and visibility to the Women’s Anti-Violence Centres set up by D.I.R.E. Donne In Rete contro la violenza (Women’s network against violence) with our initiative “Gender violence is not on the menu”.

This year, in partnership with Brooklyn Brewery, we also introduced Stonewall Inn Ipa beer in all our pizzerias in support of the Create Space project promoting the creation of safe spaces within the world of beer and celebrating the history of the Stonewall Inn in New York, the birthplace of the LGBTQIA+ rights movements.
